Sadly it has finally happened.

I put a big piece of it in my mouth and literally said, "ugh". It has a rather astringent, bitter flavor at first, then gets slightly sweet. Totally insipid. Totally unappetizing.
p.s. Turns out it's a Slow Food presidia product (a traditional food product that SF is trying to save from extinction). Generally I think these are great projects, but every now and then you find that maybe there's a reason that no one is eating these foods anymore. Maybe it's time to let it go.
