Easter treats - no peeps here

Meet a typcial Italian Easter treat, the Colomba Pasquale.



Colomba means dove and I suppose I sort of see the shape in the cake form. Sort of.

If you have ever eaten a Christmas Panettone then you can imagine the flavor of a Colomba - yeasty, eggy, studded with candied fruit peels, and topped with pearl surgar and almonds.

Delish on its own, extra special when briefly caramelized in a bit of butter.
